Please help my Indian cousins
My mum is on holiday in India and wrote to me about my Indian cousins who sound like they need our help. Here’s what she said about the dogs she saw on Colva beach at Goa:
“I went down to the beach this morning for breakfast, and again was confronted by dogs in a pitiful condition. One had a foot missing, another was limping badly, many had only patches of hair remaining because of severe mange, and all bore many scars from fights. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I saw a young boy with a big stick chasing a group of dogs trying to hit them. And every now and then, in the distance, I could hear dogs crying out in pain or distress.”
There is a British-based group called International Animal Rescue that has been set up to help animals in various parts of the world. They have established an animal rescue centre in Goa and are involved in desexing, treatment and immunisation.
