Poppy at the Walk!

Photo: Poppy at the Million Paws WalkPoppy sent me this photo of the day she went on the Million Paws Walk.

She also sent me this email:

To Bacchus,

I have finally got my own dmail account. Now that Chris and Andrea have the wireless LAN thingy set up, it means I can grab the laptop and sit behind the couch or under the bed and send emails while Chris and Andrea watch T.V. Yes, they can hear the tippy tappying of the keyboard, but Chris thinks it’s just the rain outside. I don’t type fast, just one paw at a time.

You are lucky that you didn’t get to go on the Million Paws Walk. It rained and rained and rained, but finally stopped just as the walk began, but by then the ground was drenched, as were we all Hope you like the photo.

This will be no surprise to you after my last email, but someone came up to me and told me I won the cutest dog competition. After the walk, every one of us got a biscuit: I ate two! It was yummy. The water bowls on the other hand were big, shallow and filled with bits of grass. I waited til I got home

Luv Poppy

Pawscasso?

We’ve all heard about elephants that paint, but guess what? So do dogs!

In the news recently was a story about Q-Boy, a little Sheltie dog, who has been painting with his paws for about four months.

Q-Boy is not only a good painter, but he’s also got a good heart. He’s selling his paintings to raise money for cancer treatment for a sick Virginia potbellied pig called Smithfield. What a cool Sheltie!

Thanks again go to Dogcow, who seems to like just the same kinds of web sites as me.

In the doghouse?

Mum’s friend Dogcow has done it again. He’s found another grrreat web site.

This one is all about dog houses. It’s called La Petite Maison, and they build special houses for us dogs. They can even make dog houses that are miniature human houses, so we can open our own doors without waiting for the humans to let us in. And, because they’re small, we can keep the humans out–and off our bed!

Humans need us, but it took them a while to figure it out!

I was reading the paper this morning, and in the “Sunday Life” section there was an article called “The Power of Pets”. It was all about how humans live longer lives and are healthier and happier if they live with dogs.

There were also some funny sticksticks - you know, numbers and stuff:

85% of Australian pet owners say their pet is a part of the family (what’s wrong with the other 15%?)

81% feel they’re never alone when they’re with their pet (and they’re the smart 81%???)

57% say their pet is their best friend (gee, let’s hope no one does a survey of dogs to find out who they say their best friend is)

There was lots more, but the other thing I wanted to mention was the “Pets At Work Scheme”. Apparently some American companies let humans take their dogs to work with them. Not so here in Australia, although my mum has sneaked me into work with her on the weekend–because she can’t bear to be without me!
