Is there a heaven for people?

Mum says there’s no such thing as a people heaven–but then she doesn’t even believe in dog heaven or the Top Dog who lives there.

But I think there must be a people heaven. And it’s a place where only really good people go, like my Uncle Gary who died earlier today.

Uncle Gary had been very sick in the past few years. He had rheumatoid arthritis and had lots of operations to replace joints that didn’t work any more: his hips, his knee, and he’d even had his toes wired. But he never grumbled about anything, even though he was always in pain.

Earlier this year, Uncle Gary had a very dangerous operation to fix his neck. The first one didn’t work, so they had to try something different in a second operation. We were all very worried about him then, but he pulled through.

And he seemed to be doing very well. Mum saw him at his daughter, Tanya’s, wedding on Sunday and said he looked well. But he got sick and went to hospital on Thursday night. Early in the morning, he got worse and the docs sent him by ambulance to a bigger hospital. But he didn’t make it.

Now all the humans in our family are very sad. I’d be really sad too if I didn’t believe in people heaven. But that’s where I think Uncle Gary has gone, and if it’s anything like dog heaven, I bet he’ll be having a real good time.

Grandma’s pills made me all woozy

Bacchus with his grandma My grandma came to stay last night so she could go with mum and dad to Tanya’s wedding today.

She doesn’t come to visit very often, so my job was jumping up on her lots so she would feel welcome. Mum cooked a barbecue for dinner, and that was fun, coz I got to eat lots of steak! Everyone had a good time.

In the morning, though, they all got upset after I chewed up one of grandma’s sleeping pills that she accidentally dropped on the floor. I didn’t know what it was, but it sure made me woozy. I was excited by all the attention and couldn’t help running around madly, but my legs were going all wobbly and I kept falling over. The vet said I should be fine and didn’t need to go to hospital, but dad had to stay home from the wedding to keep an eye on me.

I’m fine again now, and mum said the wedding went well.

I got to meet my cousin Alfie

photo of AlfieMum took me for a really long drive today and I got to meet my cousin Alfie.

Alfie lives with Tanya and Dave in Altona.

Tanya and Dave are getting married tomorrow, so there were lots of humans there fussing about and making last minute alterations to the huge dress that Alfie’s mum is going to wear tomorrow.

Cousin Sally was also there, so all three of us got to play and do poopies in the big back yard. I don’t have a back yard at all, so I really like it when I get to go and play and run around on a big grassy lawn.

Here are some photos. Click on the thumbnail to pop up a larger photo.
