Sid and Shep

Say hello to Sid and Shep. They’re brothers and they live with Julian, Jack and Robert (friends of my mum and dad). Aren’t they just the cutest brothers you’ve ever seen?

Of course, I haven’t met them yet–like so many of my other dog friends whose pictures you might have seen on my web site. But we’re planning to meet real soon now.

Sid and Shep go to the Southern Obedience Dog Club and my mum is thinking about taking me there too because there’s a really big playground that I can run around in safely. She says I’ll make lots of new friends there too.

Vonne must not chase penguins

Here’s an email I just got from my new friend Wonne asking about penguins. Wonne, Mum says a penguin looks kinda like a cross between a cat and a bird, but you’ll get into much more trouble chasing one.

Hi Bacchus (woof-woof-woof…woof-woof-woof-woof),

Say thank you to Dey for putting up my photo - it’s quite a good likeness. I’ve been reading about your other pals. Unlike some of them I am what you might call an “outdoor dog”, which means that there are certain armchairs that I am not allowed to sleep on!

Yeah, Jude and Keith left me at home the other weekend when they went cycling. It wasn’t too bad because I got to play with Kim ALL Saturday afternoon. Kim is OK, but she is a bit puppyish (she is only 9 months old). Anyway we were both absolutely whacked by Saturday night. Then on Sunday Kim’s folks took us both to something that they call “Disobedience”. It’s fun though. We all meet in a park (about 40 of us - all GSD’s) and there are trainers who help us to train our owners. Poor dears, they’d be quite hopeless without some help.

I think I’ve cured Jude and Keith of leaving me when they go away because next weekend is their 30th wedding anniversay. They’re going to Phillip Island (wherever that is) for the weekend, AND I’M GOING!! Keith says I must not, on any account, chase any penguins. Bacchus, what is a penguin?

Love,
Wonne

Tali’s got more spots!

Photo: TaliSay hello to Tali. He’s very cute, isn’t he? My mum says he’s got a “gorgeous muttley head”, whatever that means. And she said lots of “awwww-looook”s while she was making his photo ready to go online. She usually does that when she likes something.

Although Tali and I haven’t met, we’ve got a few things in common.

First, we’ve both got spots. Only I think he’s got an awful lot more. I’ve only got nine spots: two on my head, one large one on my bottom, three on my back, and three little ones on my belly. I wonder how many Tali has? Maybe he’s got so many that his mum and dad can’t count them?

Second, we both got named as a result of our dad’s drinking interests. Tali is named after Talisker whisky–his dad’s favourite. And I’m named because of my dad’s affection for wine.

Third, our mums work together at some place called eye-tee-ess. It’s at the University in some out of the way place. They have lots of computers and stuff, but no dogs are allowed. That’s their tough luck, hey Tali?!!
